Acupuncture

A Timeless Healing Art in Classical Chinese Medicine

Yi Jing

Classical Chinese medicine

Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM) is rooted in ancient texts such as the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon), Yijing (Classic of Changes), and Shennong Bencaojing (Divine Farmer’s Materia Medica). Its foundation lies in Daoist theories that emphasise the transformation of energy, its direction of flow and the timing as it courses thorough the vital organs and meridians.

CCM views all natural phenomena—including humans—as dynamic blends of active and stored energy. This energy is in constant motion, continuously adapting to internal shifts and environmental influences. As such, human physiology continuously adjusts to internal/external stresses, and when the balance among these forces is disrupted, ill health occurs.

Treatment in CCM is focused on restoring this balance. Treatments are designed to support the natural transformation of vital energy, correct direction of flow, harmonise internal organs, regulate emotions, and align with environmental influences to re-establish health. Therapies include acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, cupping, moxibustion, gua sha (scraping), massage, lineaments, external washes and practices such as taiji and qigong.

Acupuncture

For over 2,000 years, acupuncture has been a vital practice in Classical Chinese Medicine (CCM), a holistic system that views health as a dynamic interplay and delicate balance of Qi (vital energy), Blood, Yin, and Yang. These fundamental substances flow through a network of meridians that connect every part of the body, including the organs, skin, hair, and mind.

By carefully inserting ultra-fine needles at precise acupuncture points, practitioners help restore the natural circulation of Qi, addressing imbalances that can lead to pain, illness, and emotional distress. As a core modality of CCM, acupuncture goes beyond symptom relief—it works to correct underlying disharmonies, supporting the body’s innate ability to heal itself.

This ancient practice is used to support a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, digestive disorders, stress, insomnia, and hormonal imbalances. Whether you seek relief from a specific issue or want to enhance your overall well-being, acupuncture offers a time-tested and holistic approach to health, deeply rooted in the wisdom of CCM.
