Manual Therapy
Manual therapy, a strand of physiotherapy, refers to a combination of modern techniques that address problems of the neural and musculo-skeletal system. Each technique involves a process to specifically diagnose biomechanical problems and aims to restore normal function to the affected area based on the specific diagnosis. Manual therapy or manual medicine techniques used include the following:
- spinal and peripheral joint mobilisation,
- mobilisation with movement,
- neural mobilisation,
- muscle energy technique,
- craniosacral therapy, and,
- taping techniques.
Manual techniques are an excellent adjunctive to acupuncture in the treatment of neck, shoulder and back pain, headaches, tendonitis, arthritis, sciatica, sports injuries and a host of post surgical orthopedic conditions.
